US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that Goruk’s radar sites, surveillance systems and drone storage facilities were destroyed in this operation. The US military described it as a rescue operation as they had already shot down four Iranian attack drones that were heading towards a cargo ship.

Amidst this military action, there is a big stir at the diplomatic level also. President Donald Trump has claimed that a deal could be reached in Europe this weekend, which will also include Vice President JD Vance. An initial agreement has been reached through Qatari mediators, but the final seal of approval on this deal will be put by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. However, Israel has said that it is not aware of any such deal.

According to reports, mainly these things are being discussed in this agreement:

  • Returning Iran’s frozen assets.
  • Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz during 60-day ceasefire.
  • Monitoring Iran’s nuclear program.

After these attacks, fear has increased regarding the security of international shipping and ceasefire negotiations. Meanwhile, the case of arrest of Iranian-American journalist Reza Valizadeh is also heated. The James Foley Legacy Foundation has called for early intervention for his release as he is being held in Evin Prison.
