US Visa: Big blow to Indian students, visas reduced by 62%

US Visa: A big worrying news has come to light for Indian students dreaming of pursuing higher education in America. According to the latest report of America’s prestigious think tank Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) , there has been a huge decline of 62 percent in the number of F-1 student visas issued to Indian students in the year 2025. According to the report, while 58,694 student visas were issued to Indian students in 2024 , this number has reduced to 22,149 in 2025. Experts believe that this decline has been seen due to changes in American immigration policies and more stringent visa interview process.

Chinese students were also affected

The impact of this decline wasn’t limited to India. According to the report, student visas issued to Chinese students also declined by 34 percent . Despite this, India and China still account for the largest number of foreign students studying in the United States. Experts say that new visa policies and stricter security standards could make the application process more challenging for international students in the future.
