Uttarakhand Accident: Car falls into 250 feet deep gorge in Pauri, 5 people of same family killed

Pauri. Five members of a family were killed in a tragic road accident on Friday in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district. The accident occurred when their car fell into a 250-foot-deep gorge near Kundadhar on the Devprayag-Pauri road. A child was seriously injured in the accident and has been hospitalized.

Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Singh Panwar said that at around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Devprayag police station received information that a car had lost control and fallen into a deep ravine near Kundadhar. Immediately, police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and rescued all the occupants of the vehicle.

Five people died on the spot

The injured were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared five dead. The seriously injured child, Arman, was referred to Base Hospital Srinagar after first aid.

The family was a resident of Laksar in Haridwar.

According to police, all the deceased were residents of Raipur Jeetpur village in the Laksar area of ​​Haridwar district. The deceased were identified as Afzal (49), son of Akbar Sufi, his wife Shabbo (40), daughter Annavia (3), son Shadab (14), and Gufran (34), son of Akbar.

Afzal was taking his family for a trip

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Afzal worked as a contractor in Pauri and was taking his family for a trip. He was driving the car at the time of the accident. Police have exhumed the bodies from the ditch and sent them for post-mortem examination, and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
