Uttarakhand News: A big initiative has emerged in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, for quick solution to the problems of deprived and suffering families. The old and complicated problems of the people were resolved in a three-day special public hearing program organized in the office of the State Scheduled Caste Commission. During this period, the complainants who came from remote hilly and plain districts openly expressed their pain. In this hearing, which was conducted under the direct supervision of Commission Chairman Mukesh Kumar, both the parties were made to sit face to face and talked about it, which yielded positive results.
The round of resolving complaints lasted for three days
This public hearing was held from September 1 to September 3 at the Commission headquarters in Dehradun. During this time, people from all parts of the state including Tehri, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar had come with their complaints. A total of forty-five complaints were heard sequentially within three days. Due to the activeness of the Commission and the direct presence of both the parties, twenty-six sensitive cases were resolved on the spot. In cases where immediate decision was not possible, officers of the concerned departments were ordered to complete the investigation within the stipulated time and submit the report.
The Commission's priority is to provide justice within the framework of the Constitution.
While presiding over the public hearing, Commission Chairman Mukesh Kumar said that the main objective of the Commission is to provide timely justice to the person standing at the last rung of the society under the Constitution and law. He said that many times people keep wandering for a long time for their small problems. In such a situation, the Commission always tries to find a permanent solution to the matter through talks by making both the parties sit together. Apart from this, the Commission is also continuously paying attention to ensure that the full benefits of the government's public welfare schemes reach the needy families without any hindrance.
Taught officers to work responsibly
Emphasizing on the administrative functioning, the Speaker said that the presence of competent and responsible officers in public hearing makes it much easier to settle the cases. He gave strict instructions to all officers and employees to perform their daily work and responsibilities with complete honesty and accountability. He clarified that if the officials at the local level listen seriously to the problems of the people and solve them, then the common citizen will not have to make rounds of the Commission or the headquarters for his small complaints.
Hearing on matters ranging from land to job
Many serious and long pending issues came to light in this three-day event. These mainly included cases related to removal of illegal encroachment on the ancestral land of Scheduled Caste families, proper measurement of land, getting ownership rights of land and social oppression. Along with this, complaints related to unnecessary removal of outsourced employees working in departments, hindrance in promotion, reinstatement in job and caste discrimination were also deeply considered. The Commission kept the protection of the rights of the victims at the top in all these cases.
Emphasis on timely execution of orders
Commission Secretary Kavita Tamta, while giving details of the entire public hearing, said that the complaints received from the districts were heard with utmost sensitivity. He said that whatever instructions have been given to the concerned police and administrative officials in the public hearing, it is very important to follow them within the stipulated time. The Commission will continuously monitor how much the decisions given have been implemented on the ground. Negligence of officials will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Commission members Vishal Mukhiya, Sunita Devi, Bhagirathi Kunjwal and legal advisor Raju Mehar were prominently present during this important public hearing. Apart from this, other officers and employees associated with the Commission were also present during the entire process. All the members examined the legal nuances of the cases and assured all possible help to the victims at the legal and administrative level. This step of the Commission has given new hope for justice among the people coming from far away places.
