President of India Droupadi Murmu today welcomed H.E. Mr Saidov Bakhtiyor Odilovich, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, underscoring the deep historical and civilizational links between the two nations.
The President noted that shared heritage in architecture, language, cuisine, music, and religious traditions continues to strengthen bilateral relations. She emphasised that the presence of senior leaders in the Uzbek delegation and the organisation of an India–Uzbekistan Business Forum reflect growing confidence in each other’s markets.
Highlighting opportunities for cooperation, President Murmu pointed to sectors such as rare earth mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and information technology. She also welcomed the strong people‑to‑people exchanges, noting that over 3,000 Uzbek officials, professionals, and students have benefited from India’s training and scholarship programs, while 16,000 Indian students are pursuing higher studies in Uzbekistan.
Both leaders agreed that the discussions during this visit would further deepen friendship, trust, and cooperation between India and Uzbekistan.
