East Zone, led by Ishan Kishan have assumed total control in the ongoing Duleep Trophy final against South Zone in Chennai. Batting first, East Zone scored 708 runs in the first innings, with Kishan amassing 270.
Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshiwho is the vice-captain of the team, helped his team get their first wicket. The incident happened on the second ball of the sixth over when Mukesh Kumar drifted down the leg side, and Ricky Bhui tried to flick it past the fine-leg region.

Wicketkeeper Kushagra appealed for caught behind, but the umpire was unmoved. With just two seconds left on the DRS timer, Ishan decided to use the technology. There was an edge of the bat, and the bowling side got the first wicket. Once the decision was reversed, East Zone celebrated the departure of Bhui for one run.

Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar hurt South Zone
After the loss of the first wicket, Devdutt Padikkal joined Narayan Jagadeesan and the two added 60 runs for the second wicket. Padikkal batted well.
Jagadeesan was dismissed for 32 when Abhimanyu Easwaran caught him to give Shikhar Mohan his first wicket of the game. Shaik Rasheed came to the crease and added 56 runs for the third wicket with Devdutt.
Mohammed Shamiusing all his experience, trapped Rasheed LBW for 27 runs. Devdutt fell while trying to flick the ball over the square leg region and offered a simple catch to the fielder, giving Mukesh his second scalp of the day. Shami struck again when Smaran Ravichandran was caught behind for 23, which left South Zone at 174 for five, still trailing by 534 runs.
