Vaibhav Suryavanshi can debut in the second T20 against Ireland, indications of major changes in India’s playing 11 after the defeat.
belfast: After a 34-run defeat in the first T20 match against Ireland, the Indian team is now under complete pressure to win the second and final match. This match, to be played in Belfast on June 28, is being considered as a “do or die” situation for India. If Team India loses this match too, then it may have to face losing the T20 series against Ireland for the first time.
In such a situation, captain Shreyas Iyer and the team management can make major changes in the playing eleven. The most talked about is the possible debut of 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has attracted a lot of attention with his aggressive batting in recent times.
In the first T20I, the Indian top order – Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Verma and Shreyas Iyer – had failed to make an impact. In such a situation, better performance will be expected from these players in the second match. However, the question remains whether the team management will give a chance to Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the decisive match.
It is believed that if Vaibhav gets a chance, a change can be made in the team combination, in which Washington Sundar can be kept out. In the first match, Sundar bowled only one over in which he gave 19 runs, whereas while batting, he could score only 9 runs in 12 balls.
If Vaibhav joins the playing eleven, he can open with Abhishek Sharma. After this, Sanju Samson can come at third, Ishan Kishan at fourth, captain Shreyas Iyer at fifth, Tilak Verma at sixth, Shivam Dubey at seventh and Akshar Patel at eighth.
There is a possibility of change in the bowling department also. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna proved costly in the first match, where he conceded 57 runs in four overs and took no wickets. In his place, young fast bowler Prince Yadav may get a chance, who recently made his debut in the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Apart from this, Suryansh Shedge and spinner Ravi Bishnoi are also present in the team, but their chances of playing are considered less at present.
India’s possible playing eleven could be as follows – Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav.
