Mumbai 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who hails from Samastipur district of Bihar, has done what every budding cricketer in the country dreams of. Vaibhav, who has scored runs in domestic cricket with his explosive batting, has been included in India’s senior national team for the first time. He has got a place in the team selected for Ireland, England tour and Asian Games. This selection is being considered as the boldest initiative of BCCI to build its future team.
Sachin’s record broken, history created
With his selection, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has registered his name in golden letters in the history books. At the age of just 15 years and 71 days, he has become the youngest cricketer to be selected in the Indian senior team. Earlier this record was in the name of great batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut for India in 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days.
Debut will be in Belfast, Ireland’s swing will be the litmus test
India’s tour of Ireland will start from June 26. The tour will begin with two T20 matches to be played in Belfast, where Vaibhav can make his international debut. Ireland’s pitches which favor swing and fast bowlers will be a big test for him, but considering his technique and aggressive style, the coach and selectors are fully confident.
Created panic in Ranji, Cooch Behar and Under-19
Vaibhav reaching Team India is no coincidence. He batted brilliantly in Ranji Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy. He came into limelight by scoring a century in just 58 balls in the Under-19 Test against Australia. Vaibhav, who made headlines as the youngest player in the IPL auction, learned the art of playing under pressure by working with legendary captains and coaches.

Vaibhav’s selection is no less than a milestone for Bihar Cricket, which has been struggling with administrative hurdles and lack of resources for a long time. His success has given the message that if the talent is strong then even lack of resources cannot stop him from wearing the jersey of Team India.
The command of both the teams is in the hands of Shreyas Iyer
The command of the Indian T20 team announced for the Ireland-England series and Asian Games has been handed over to Shreyas Iyer, while Tilak Verma will be the vice-captain. The team selected for the Ireland tour includes Abhishek, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dubey, Nitish Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakraborty, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Prince. Jasprit Bumrah has also returned to the Asian Games team.
