Ryan Parag was seen vaping during the match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and this controversy has become a topic of discussion as soon as his video went viral. Fans have also started a big debate on its possible legal consequences. According to reports, the incident happened when Rajasthan Royals were chasing the target and the cameras panned towards the dressing room for some time.

Parag was seen holding and using the vape in the viral footage, which immediately sparked strong reactions online. Fans and critics have questioned the propriety of such behavior during such a big match. From a cricket perspective, this incident could lead to disciplinary action under IPL rules.

The league’s code of conduct provides for penalties for behavior that may harm the reputation of the game. Since dressing rooms and stadium premises are usually declared ‘smoke-free zones’, if proven, it could also be considered a breach of internal guidelines, resulting in a fine or other sanctions.

The legal aspect makes the issue even more serious. Under the ‘Electronic Cigarettes Prohibition Act, 2019’, e-cigarettes are banned across India. This law prohibits their production, sale, transportation and storage and for violating it, there is a provision of various types of penalties including fine and imprisonment. First-time offenders can face a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh, while repeat offenders are punished more severely. Under certain circumstances, mere possession of an e-cigarette may result in penalties.
