125 days employment instead of 100! Big increase in daily wages of workers, VB-G RAM G law implemented across the country from today

VB-G RAM G law implementing from today: The Narendra Modi government at the Center has notified the revised wage rates under the Develop India-Employment and Livelihood Mission Guarantee (Rural) Act, 2025 (VB-G Ram-G). This new law is coming into effect from July 1, 2026. Under the new Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the government has increased the average wage to Rs 327.4 per day, which was earlier fixed at Rs 298.8 per day under MNREGA. The revised rate has increased by an average of Rs 28.6 per day.

The Rural Ministry has said that the new wage rates effective from July 1 will be applicable to laborers working in all the states and union territories of the country. In the information given by the Ministry, it was also told that a new interim base wage rate of Rs 300 per day has been made, which will ensure that no wage rate notified under the scheme should be less than this. According to the government, the average wage rate across the country has increased by more than 10 percent.

125 days employment guarantee

Ministry of Rural Development In the information given by it, it has been said that the new rule gives a legal guarantee of wage based employment up to 125 days to eligible rural families, whereas earlier this limit was only 100 days. Under the new amendment, wages in 21 states and administrative units have been increased to a new interim base rate of Rs 300. In states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand and Assam, wage rates will increase by 15 to 25 percent. Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have seen the highest increase of about 24.5 percent.

‘On the revised wage rates under the Develop India-Employment and Livelihood Mission Guarantee (Rural) Act, the government said that such a structure has been made that states which had lower wage rates earlier, will now get more benefits. Along with this, there will also be an increase in states with higher wages than before.

Government’s motive behind the amendment

Union Rural Development Minister regarding new law Shivraj Singh Chauhan Said that the real objective of the Central Government is that no eligible laborer living in rural areas should be deprived of work. He further said that the enactment of VB-Ji Ram-Ji Act is a historic step towards building a developed India through prosperous villages. The Union Minister also said that the Central and State Governments together have completed all preparations to implement this Act at the ground level.
