VD Satheesan takes oath as Chief Minister of Kerala
Other members of the 20-member cabinet will also be administered the oath by the Governor.
Thiruvananthapuram, (Language) VD Satheesan was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Kerala on Monday and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to the Congress Legislature Party leader here. Satishan took oath in the name of God.
Apart from Satheesan, other members of his 20-member cabinet will also be sworn in by the Governor. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, among others, were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Left leaders and representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also attended the function. Thousands of Congress workers from across Kerala reached the state capital for the event.
Elections to the 140-member assembly in Kerala were held on 9 April, the results of which were declared on 4 May. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won 102 seats, while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) won 35 and the BJP 3.
