Verification by SIT of Ram Temple accounts; 124 crore question mark

Ayodhya: Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Uttar Pradesh Government Ram temple The trust has launched an inquiry into the expenditure of over Rs 124 crore on various programs in the last two years. According to sources, the inquiry includes the Prana Pratistha ceremony in January 2024, arrangements for the 2025 Mahakumbha and the flag hoisting ceremony in November 2025.

Financial records, bills and gold and silver received as donations for the last two years are being audited. The investigating officers examined audit reports, payment vouchers, bills, records of chartered accountants and expenditure statements to ascertain whether the funds were utilized as per the trust’s established financial procedures and approvals. However, it has been decided that Champat Rai will continue in his position in the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHIP) until the inquiry is completed.

General Secretary of the Trust Champat Rai and Anil Mishra were accused in the Ram Mandir donation theft case. Rai and Mishra also resigned due to these allegations. After their resignations, the atmosphere in Ayodhya seemed to calm down. Just as the situation calmed down a bit, Champat Rai heated up the atmosphere once again.

‘Rs 113 crore spent on life dignity’

The biggest expenditure under the SIT’s investigation is on Ramlalla’s death ceremony on January 22, 2024, which was attended by approximately 8,000 guests and cost a total of Rs 113 crore.

Gold and silver will also be matched

The SIT is not only verifying the actual expenditure, but also examining the records of precious metals and jewelery donated by devotees to Ramlalla. According to trust records, devotees donated 2.3 kg gold and 83.3 kg silver between November 2024 and February 2025. Additionally, 1.5 kg of gold and 28 kg of silver were received as offerings during the Mahakumbh Mela, the storage and current status of which is under investigation. The investigating officers are re-examining the documents related to these donations.

Trustees recruited favorite ‘thieves’

New and shocking facts are constantly coming to light from the investigation into donation theft case in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Although the personnel assigned to count the donations were officially appointed by Varanasi-based Sainik Security Services, they were directly recommended by the trustees of the Ram Mandir Trust and given final approval by the bank officials. Investigations are now coming to the conclusion that the plan to embezzle the donation was premeditated.
