Vietnam boat accident: Preparations to bring bodies of 15 Indians to India, Embassy expressed gratitude to the officials
The process of bringing back to India the mortal remains of 15 Indian citizens who lost their lives in the tragic boat accident on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam has started. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam said on Sunday that the bodies of the Indian citizens killed in the accident have reached Ho Chi Minh City. They will be sent to India as soon as possible after the necessary legal and administrative formalities are completed.

The Indian Embassy thanked the Vietnamese authorities through a post on social media platform X. The embassy said it is working closely with Vietnamese authorities and consular teams to repatriate the bodies to India. The embassy wrote that Vietnamese authorities have cooperated in the necessary procedures to quickly bring back the mortal remains of 15 Indian nationals killed in the Phu Quoc Island boat accident to India. India has appreciated Vietnam’s cooperation in this difficult time.
The survivors of the accident were discharged from the hospital.

According to the embassy, one of the two seriously injured patients has been discharged from the hospital, while the other is still undergoing treatment.
There were 32 Indian tourists and four crew members on board the boat.
According to Vietnamese media reports, the accident occurred when Ocean Pearl Island Company’s tourist speedboat AG 26751 was heading from Hoan Me Rat to An Thoi Port carrying Indian tourists and crew members. It was told that there were 32 Indian tourists and four crew members on board the boat. The boat capsized at a distance of about 400 meters from Rat Ngoi in Hon Me.
After this accident the local administration has started investigation. According to reports, a 57-year-old local man has been detained in connection with alleged legal violations.

At the same time, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has also intervened in the matter and has given instructions to help in bringing the mortal remains of the deceased to India soon. Information about the dead and affected people has been made available to the concerned authorities by the district administration.
