Vietnam drew 31,569 spectators for the match against Singapore and welcomed 19,628 fans for the game against Cambodia. In total, My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi recorded an attendance of 51,197, averaging nearly 25,600 spectators per match.
Indonesia ranked second with 49,750 spectators across two home games. Pakansari Stadium hosted 22,485 people for the match against Cambodia and 27,265 for the highly anticipated game against Vietnam.
The gap between the two teams with the highest home attendance was just 1,447 spectators.
Cambodia ranked third with a total of 34,338 spectators. The match against Singapore at Morodok Techo Stadium attracted 27,790 people. However, only 6,548 spectators attended the game against Timor-Leste.
Thailand followed closely with 29,063 spectators in their two home matches. This number comprised 16,037 people for the game against Malaysia and 13,026 when hosting Myanmar.
Malaysia recorded a total attendance of 22,778, with 10,044 spectators for the match against Laos and 12,734 for the game against the Philippines.
The remaining teams saw significantly lower attendance figures.
Myanmar recorded 10,500 spectators for the match against Malaysia, but data for their game against Laos is not yet available.
Singapore drew 9,778 spectators, while Laos recorded 8,866. The Philippines ranked ninth with a total attendance of just 5,890.
Timor-Leste recorded only 384 spectators across their two designated home matches: 195 against Vietnam and 189 against Indonesia. However, there was a specific reason for this low figure. Because their national stadium in Dili did not meet required standards, Timor-Leste had to select Chonburi Stadium in Thailand as a neutral home venue.
Semi-final ticket frenzy
Vietnam’s lead in attendance figures highlights the team’s incredibly strong appeal. Coach Kim Sang-sik and the squad are preparing for the first leg of the semifinals against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Aug. 16, followed by the return leg at My Dinh Stadium three days later.
Tickets for the semi-final return leg in Hanoi are available in four price tiers: VND300,000, 500,000, 700,000, and 1 million, or between US$11-38.
Thailand have also begun selling tickets for their semi-final match against Singapore at home on Aug. 18.
Sales opened at 10 a.m. on Aug. 11, with prices ranging from 200 to 500 baht ($6-15).
Malaysia has also announced ticket prices for its home semi-final, with a top price of 100 ringgit ($24.5) excluding extra fees.
Tickets for the A5 stand are priced at 70 ringgit, while sections for the home team’s passionate supporters cost 50 ringgit. Children’s tickets are priced at 5 ringgit and are available for spectators aged 5 to 12.
Singapore has not yet announced ticketing details for their semi-final match.
Just hours after online sales for the semi-final second leg opened on Aug. 8, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that all tickets were sold out.
My Dinh Stadium has a capacity of over 40,000 spectators. The stadium’s all-time attendance record for a football match was set during the 2014 AFF U19 Championship final against Japan, when 50,000 spectators attended the host nation’s narrow 0-1 defeat.
