Vietnam’s Department of Immigration has implemented pre-entry information declarations for international arrivals at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City to reduce immigration processing time.

According to a notice posted on the Ho Chi Minh City Immigration Office’s Facebook page, foreign nationals and overseas Vietnamese traveling on visas are required to submit personal information before arrival.

Vietnamese passport holders and transit passengers are exempt from the requirement, effective from April 15.

The declaration can be made through the official portal https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn/after which the travelers will receive a confirmation code to present to immigration officers upon arrival.

Those who fail to complete the declaration in advance may face longer processing times at immigration checkpoints, the office warns, adding that passengers must ensure all submitted information is accurate and complete three days before arrival.

Immigration authorities said the new measure helps to modernize immigration management and enhance service quality for passengers, ensuring a fast, convenient, and safe experience.

The notice also urges airlines and travel companies to inform passengers in advance.

Some Vietnamese airlines have announced the new regulation on its website.

Tan Son Nhat Airport handled over 42.4 million passengers last year, marking a 6.3% year-on-year increase, including 17.8 million international travelers.
