Vietnam’s largest island Phu Quoc among most searched domestic destinations for Sept. 2 holiday

Vietnam’s largest island ranked ninth on the list, which was led by Da Nang, Nha Trang and Da Lat, based on accommodation searches made on Agoda from May 1 to July 31 for stays between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2.

A survey for the Aug. 28-Sept. 2 holiday period found that round-trip airfares to Phu Quoc averaged VND2.6 million from Ho Chi Minh City and VND4.5 million from Hanoi.

Airfares for this year’s holiday have also fallen compared with the same period last year, with fares to Phu Quoc down by around VND2.8-3.5 million.

Phu Quoc received 6.8 million tourists in the first seven months this year, up 30% year-on-year and meeting 80% of this year’s target.

Agoda said coastal and island destinations account for six of the 10 most-searched domestic destinations, giving travelers plenty of options for a seaside escape over the five-day holiday from Aug. 29 to Sept. 2.
