Vijay set to take oath on 10th May as Tamil Nadu CM tomorrow after governor’s approval
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief C. Joseph Vijay is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10 after being officially invited by Governor RN Ravi to form the government.
According to an official press release issued from Lok Bhavan on May 9, Vijay met the Governor and submitted a letter confirming his election as the leader of the TVK Legislature Party. He also presented letters of support from the Indian National Congress, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and Indian Union Muslim League backing the formation of a government under his leadership.
The Governor subsequently appointed Vijay as the Chief Minister-designate and asked him to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly on or before May 13, 2026. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai at 10 am on May 10.
The development marks a major political milestone for Vijay, one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, whose party entered electoral politics with significant public attention. Security arrangements and administrative preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are currently underway in Chennai, with leaders from alliance parties and supporters expected to attend the event in large numbers.
The official release from Lok Bhavan confirmed that the new ministry will be formed immediately after the oath-taking ceremony.
