Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming action thriller ‘Train’, directed by Mysskin, is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on December 4, the makers have announced. The release date was confirmed by producer Kalaippuli S Thanu, whose banner V Creations is backing the project.
The film has already received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), clearing the way for its theatrical release. Expectations have been building since the makers unveiled a teaser that hints at a tense, high-stakes thriller unfolding aboard a train.
Thanu announced the release date on social media, writing, “Get ready for the ride! #Train storms into cinemas worldwide on ‘DECEMBER 4’!”
‘Train’ teaser hints at a high-stakes battle aboard a moving train
The 43-second teaser introduces a speeding train apparently taken over by dangerous individuals. As frightened passengers watch, Vijay Sethupathi’s character appears to take on the threat alone.
The train is portrayed as an unstoppable force, hurtling past stations without stopping at its designated halts. The people controlling it appear to have planned their actions carefully, raising questions about their identities, their motives and the man attempting to confront them.
The preview offers little information about the plot but suggests a suspense-driven narrative built around danger, confinement and a race against time. The premise is in keeping with Mysskin’s reputation for dark, unconventional thrillers.
Vijay Sethupathi leads an ensemble cast
Alongside Sethupathi, ‘Train’ features Nasser, Shruti Haasan, Yugi Sethu, Narain, KS Ravikumar, Sampath Raj, Kalaiyarasan, Ira Dayanand and Preethy Karan.
Fowzia Fathima is handling cinematography, while Mysskin is also composing the film’s music. The project is produced by V Creations, with Thanu announcing the theatrical release after previously confirming the film’s censor clearance.
The producer had shared the certification update on social media a few months ago, writing, “Train censored U/A.”
Narain’s role sparks speculation about Mysskin’s cinematic universe
Narain’s involvement in the film has also attracted attention because of his earlier work with Mysskin. Last year, the actor shared photographs from the sets of ‘Train’, revealing that he was playing a police officer.
The revelation prompted speculation about a possible connection between the upcoming film and Mysskin’s 2008 crime thriller ‘Anjaathey’, in which Narain also portrayed a police officer. Some viewers wondered whether the director might be developing a shared cinematic universe through recurring characters or storylines.
However, the makers have not confirmed any connection between the two films. Further details about the characters and the plot of ‘Train’ remain under wraps ahead of its December 4 release.
