Mirzapur. After heavy rains on Tuesday, heavy waterlogging occurred at many places in Drummondganj town. Due to blockage of drains all around, rain water filled the roads and surrounding areas. The situation was so bad that many rooms of the New Primary Health Center were also flooded, due to which people had to face a lot of trouble.
The villagers allege that despite the deployment of sanitation workers in the Gram Panchayat, the drains are not cleaned regularly. The local people are having to suffer the consequences of this during the rains. Many villagers have to spend money from their own pockets to get the drains cleaned.
Drummondganj resident Dheeraj Kesari said that the problem of blocked drains has persisted in the area for a long time, but the responsible employees are not paying attention to it. He said that out of compulsion, people have to get the cleaning done at personal expense.
The villagers have demanded from the Gram Panchayat and concerned officials that all the blocked drains of Drummondganj should be cleaned soon, so that people can get relief from the problem of waterlogging during rains in future.
