VinFast VF 5: The electric vehicle market continues to buzz with activity, with one company after another preparing to launch their latest models. Amidst this, the Vietnamese company VinFast has hinted at its next move in India. Having already introduced the VF 6 and VF 7 to the Indian market, the company is now setting its sights on the highest-selling segment:
B-segment electric cars—a space currently dominated by vehicles like the Tata Punch EV, Nexon EV, and Mahindra XEV3XO. VinFast is now testing its new sub-4-meter electric SUV, the VF 5, in India; It will compete against the Punch EV and Nexon EV. It may feature various design and feature upgrades.
Spotted in Bengaluru
This fully camouflaged vehicle was spotted near the Mahalakshmi Metro Station in Bengaluru. Known as the 'VinFast Hero Green' in Vietnam, the car is marketed globally as the 'VF 5'; consequently, if launched in India, it is likely to retain the VF 5 name. This vehicle could prove to be the next major step in VinFast's plan to launch five EVs in India by the end of 2026.
design
The D-pillar styling on the side profile clearly identifies it as the VF 5, though much of the exterior look has evolved. While the LED DRLs appear covered in the spy shots, the new projector headlight setup looks significantly sleeker than before.
The test mule was fitted with steel wheels—appearing to be 16-inch units—but 17-inch alloy wheels are expected upon launch. At the rear, a new connected LED taillight design features thick LED strips at the ends, distinguishing it from the current model.
Cabin
Inside the cabin, the previous swooping dashboard has been replaced by a flatter design. It also features a rectangular free-standing infotainment screen and an all-new steering wheel. Features such as a floating-style center console and a front center armrest are visible. It may also come equipped with a TFT instrument cluster, ventilated seats, a sunroof, and rear AC vents.
Battery and Range
The current model offers two battery options—29.6 kWh and 37.23 kWh—paired with an FWD electric motor that delivers up to 134 bhp. Their claimed ranges are 260 km and 326 km, respectively. This vehicle is now being sold to private buyers in global markets under the name VF 5. Models like the Limo Green and VF MPV 7 follow this strategy as well.
