We do not accept the conditions of the Supreme Court! This statement of CJP leader Saurabh Das created panic

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has once again taken a very tough stance regarding the ongoing legal action against student movements and protesters in the country. CJP has made it clear that the conditions being imposed by the Supreme Court in the matter of providing legal relief to the protesters are not at all acceptable to him. Party spokesperson Saurabh Das has bluntly said that the instructions of the Supreme Court are in their place, but the government will have to fulfill all their demands without any ‘buts’. However, he also clarified that if the Supreme Court gives any additional relief to the students after meeting the government’s demands, it would be welcomed.

CJP’s strong objection to the interim order of the Supreme Court

The country’s largest court, during an important hearing on Tuesday, had directed that those protesters who are below 18 years of age and have no previous criminal history should be released. The Supreme Court has issued these interim instructions while hearing several petitions filed regarding alleged police brutality and excesses during the student movement.

“Our demands are clear, all cases should be returned without any conditions”

Responding to these instructions issued by the Supreme Court, CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das, while talking to news agency ANI, boldly said that he does not accept these conditions of the court. He said that if the Supreme Court is doing something in the interest of the youth, then we welcome such order. But the court is taking decisions as per its own, that is fine; However, we have been struggling on the ground for a long time and we had some basic demands, which are most important to be fulfilled.

Saurav Das further said that we had demanded from the beginning that the fake FIR registered against all the people involved in the protest should be immediately withdrawn and no punitive action should be taken against them in future also. Apart from this, all those who have been detained or arrested should be released unconditionally. He said that we never said that only minors should be released or those who already have an old case registered against them should be kept in jail. The government will have to understand that the assurance given by both the ministers should be fulfilled at all costs. If the Supreme Court is now saying that people against whom FIR has already been registered should not be spared, then this is not acceptable to us at all. Our demands are very clear and everything should be done on that basis.

“We already had apprehensions that the police would gain power.”

Taking his point forward, Saurav Das said that he was given full assurance by the government that an order in this regard would be issued by Tuesday. He had a long conversation with his interlocutors on Monday night itself.

He said that we had discussed with him what should be the language of the official order. We already had a strong apprehension that if the government or the court would put a condition in the order that ‘there should be no previous FIR’ or ‘the protest should have been completely peaceful’, then it would give huge power to the local police administration. Then the police will start harassing the youth by terming any peaceful demonstration as non-violent as per their likes and dislikes. This is the reason why we had clearly said that no action should be taken against anyone associated with this movement. At present, we are continuously waiting in this matter.

“If our words are fulfilled, then the additional relief of the Supreme Court should also be implemented.”

Concluding his speech, CJP leader Saurabh Das bluntly said that the government should first fulfill all the conditions and demands put forward by him. After this, if the Supreme Court gives any additional relief in the interest of the students, then the government should happily implement it.

He stressed that if the Supreme Court is imposing any kind of complicated conditions in it, then they are not acceptable to us at all. Whatever the court says, it should be in addition to our basic demands. Whatever we have said, first of all that work should be completed and after that if the Supreme Court gives any other relief, then the government should complete that also.
