The activity of monsoon winds has once again reached its peak in the central and eastern states of the country. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the deep depression from the Bay of Bengal and the strong cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and the adjacent Ganga plains, the weather patterns in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand have completely changed. Due to the impact of this weather system, an alert has been issued for torrential rains, lightning and strong winds in most of the districts of the three states during the next 48 hours. Uttar Pradesh: Alert of torrential rain in eastern and Terai belt Due to the combined effect of monsoon trough line and cyclonic circulation in Uttar Pradesh, rainfall has increased in the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bundelkhand and Terai. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of very heavy rain at isolated places in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur and surrounding areas including Basti for the next two days. Intermittent heavy showers with movement of dense clouds are also expected in the capital Lucknow, Kanpur and central UP areas. Due to heavy rains, it has been advised to take special care regarding waterlogging in urban areas and crops in rural areas. Madhya Pradesh: Alert in more than 20 districts, the deepest impact of the monsoon system is being seen in Madhya Pradesh on the spate of rivers and streams. An alert of heavy to extremely heavy rain has been issued in many districts of Rewa, Satna, Panna, Anuppur, Balaghat, Sagar, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Jabalpur and Gwalior-Chambal division. Due to continuous rains, the water level of major rivers like Narmada, Betwa, Chambal and Tawa is rising rapidly. The local administration has made preparations to open the gates of many dams in view of waterlogging in the catchment areas of the dams. People living in low-lying areas have been instructed to move to safe places and stay away from picnic spots and river banks. Jharkhand: Continuous rain in many areas due to deep depression. Due to the monsoon pressure over Jharkhand, widespread rainfall is being recorded in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Santal Pargana and Kolhan divisions of the state. According to meteorologists, there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and thunderstorms. Normal life is being affected due to water logging of unpaved roads and fields in many hilly and lowland areas. The administration has made a strict appeal to the people not to take shelter in open fields or under trees during storms, rains and thunder. Caution and administrative guidelines: The Meteorological Department has issued necessary advisories for farmers and common citizens. Be sure to check official weather bulletins and traffic updates before setting out on a trip. Maintain distance from electric poles, old and dilapidated houses and submerged roads and underpasses. State disaster management teams (SDRF and NDRF) have been put on alert mode in sensitive districts to deal with any emergency.
