Weather Alert Today: Danger of torrential rain in UP, Bihar, Himachal and Uttarakhand! IMD issued alert for 13 states

New Delhi: Monsoon has become fully active across the country and continuous rains are continuing in many states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain in many parts of North India, Northeast and Central India on Tuesday, July 21. According to the department, there is a possibility of heavy rain, winds at the speed of 40 to 60 km per hour and lightning in many areas in 13 states in the next few hours.

Heavy rain alert in these 13 states

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. There is also a possibility of landslides in hilly states and waterlogging in low-lying areas. In view of the bad weather in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Delhi-NCR on Tuesday. Heavy rain may also occur in some areas. According to the Meteorological Department, winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour along with thunderstorms during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be 29 degrees Celsius and minimum 27 degrees Celsius.

Red alert in UP and Bihar

Heavy rains are likely to continue in Uttar Pradesh from 21st to 26th July. Red alert has been issued due to heavy rain in many districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. There may be heavy rain in many districts including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Sitapur and Bahraich.

In Bihar also, alert of heavy rain has been issued in Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Katihar and many other districts. Rain is likely to continue in most parts of the state till July 26.

Danger increased in hilly states

Due to continuous rains in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the risk of landslides and road blockage has increased. Warning of heavy rain has been issued in many districts including Shimla, Dehradun, Nainital, Srinagar, Kullu and Chamba. The administration has advised people to stay away from rivers, streams and landslide prone areas.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, not to be in open places during lightning and to follow the advice of the local administration.
