UCC Bill Passes in Madhya Pradesh Assembly: UCC Bill passes in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, fourth state to pass the bill after Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Assam, know its provisions

New Delhi. The Uniform Civil Code Bill (UCC) was passed in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today. The opposition created a lot of ruckus during the discussion on the bill. Even during the speech of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the opposition tried to create disruption and raised slogans. While targeting the Congress, the CM accused it of appeasement and doing politics of Muslim vote bank. Now Madhya Pradesh has become the fourth state in the country where UCC bill has been passed in the Assembly. Earlier, Uniform Civil Code Bill has been passed in Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Assam.

After this bill becomes law, only one marriage will be allowed for people of every religion. Apart from this, the rules of live-in relationship and divorce will also change. CM Mohan Yadav said that after the President’s approval, our state will stand in that category where more than one marriage will be a crime. Half of the population of our state will be supported for their rights through the government by liberating the sisters from the pain they face due to multiple marriages. Apart from marriage, women will have equal rights as men in matters of inheritance. Those who misuse live-in relations to have extramarital affairs will be sent to jail. It will be mandatory for those living in live-in to register.

Under uniform civil law, the system of divorce will now be the same in all religions. CM said that Muslim sisters will benefit the most from this. Muslim women will get freedom from the evil practice of Halala etc. This is the reason why a large number of Muslim women have supported this bill. The Chief Minister said that one law will be applicable for all Ram, Rahim and Robin.
