Despite the slowing down of the south-west monsoon, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 21 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal on October 7. During this period, there is a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 65 to 70 kilometers per hour.
New Delhi: The weather patterns are going to change once again amid the withdrawal of south-west monsoon in India. According to the forecast of India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains and strong thunderstorms may occur in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal on October 7. In some areas, the wind speed is expected to reach 65 to 70 kilometers per hour.
The low pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal and active weather systems in different parts are being considered to be the main reasons behind this change in the weather. There is a danger of lightning along with heavy rain in eastern India. People have been advised to exercise caution in view of the possibility of incidents like landslides due to rain in the hilly states.
Weather will change due to low pressure in Bay of Bengal
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the formation of a low pressure area over the north-eastern Bay of Bengal, the weather may remain active in Odisha, West Bengal and surrounding eastern states. Apart from this, the situation of formation of cyclonic circulation of upper air in Karnataka and surrounding areas has also been reported. The formation of another weather system from north-western Uttar Pradesh towards West Bengal may also increase rainfall activities.
The withdrawal line of south-west monsoon is also moving from some parts of the country. In such a situation, farmers have been advised to be cautious about waterlogging in crops and fields.
Rain and storm alert in 21 states
On October 7, the effect of rain and strong winds can be seen in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Tripura, Assam, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. In some areas, there is a possibility of strong winds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour.
There will also be a risk of thunder and lightning in eastern India. This weather condition demands special caution for people and farmers working in open areas.
Forecast of rain and storm in Delhi
Strong winds along with rain are expected in the national capital Delhi on October 7. In some areas the wind speed can be 20 to 30 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature of Delhi is likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 22 degrees Celsius.
Alert in many districts of Uttar Pradesh
Warning of rain and storm has been issued in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Weather may remain bad in many areas including Farrukhabad, Pratapgarh, Badaun, Sambhal, Bijnor, Hardoi, Unnao, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Rae Bareli, Etawah, Hamirpur, Amethi, Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj. The temperature in Lucknow is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius maximum and 22 degrees Celsius minimum.
Heavy rain in Bihar and Jharkhand also
There is a possibility of rain and thunderstorm in many districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Gopalganj, Rohtas, Buxar, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar and Bhagalpur. The maximum temperature in Patna can be around 29 degrees and minimum 23 degrees Celsius.
The weather is expected to be active in Jharkhand on October 7 and 8. Heavy rain and winds may occur in many districts including Ranchi, Deoghar, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Giridih, Gumla and West Singhbhum. The temperature in Ranchi may range between 27 and 20 degrees Celsius.
Danger of landslides in hilly states
Warning of strong winds along with rain is important in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. There may be rain in areas like Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Pauri and Tehri of Uttarakhand. At some places the speed of strong winds can reach 50 kilometers per hour. There is a possibility of bad weather in Kullu, Kangra, Kinnaur, Mandi, Una, Chamba, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Solan of Himachal Pradesh. Local conditions can be challenging due to rain and drop in temperatures in high altitude areas.
Weather will change in Jammu and Kashmir also
Rain and strong winds are expected in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir on October 7. Weather may remain active in many areas including Jammu, Anantnag, Poonch, Baramulla, Kishtwar, Reasi, Ganderbal, Udhampur, Ramban, Shopian, Bandipora and Rajouri. The maximum temperature in Srinagar is expected to be around 22 degrees and minimum 11 degrees Celsius.
