According to the latest estimates of the Meteorological Department, in the next few days the maximum temperature in the British capital London will reach at least 28C, which is the limit of heatwave.

The warning comes as climate advisers said Britain should get used to being a ‘hot country’. The data showed that the risk of extreme heat will increase by 300 percent by 2050. This warmer weather will be a joy to many families whose children are on half-term holidays from school. These holidays are starting from Friday and the temperature is expected to reach 28C on that day.

The record will be broken on Friday

Friday will also be the hottest day ever in the UK. This will break the existing record of 2026, which was recorded more than 40 days ago on April 8 at 26.6C in London’s Kew Gardens. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature will reach 29C on Saturday. After this, it will be at a peak of 31C on Sunday and Monday and then it will be 30C on Tuesday. The temperature is expected to remain high next week also.

Heatwave has different criteria in Britain

The AA expects there will be heavy traffic on the roads over the bank holiday weekend due to the hot weather. Friday is expected to be the busiest day, with 23.4 million trips expected. In the UK, a heatwave is considered official when the daily maximum temperature in a location reaches or exceeds a certain threshold for at least three consecutive days.
