Weather Updates : Stormy rain, lightning in many districts; Heat wave continues in some areas
Weather Updates | Maharashtra is once again witnessing a major change in weather conditions, with heatwave, thundershower and gusty winds warning for many parts of the state on Monday, May 11. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for some districts of Konkan, Marathwada, West Maharashtra and Vidarbha, urging citizens to be alert.
Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of South Konkan have been warned of rain accompanied by thunder. Winds of 40 to 50 km per hour, lightening and rain in the evening are likely to occur in these areas. Hot and humid air can also increase heat in coastal areas.

Most parts of North Maharashtra are likely to remain dry. Although there is no official rain warning in Nashik area, light rain is expected at some places in Ahilyanagar district. As the temperature is likely to be between 38 and 42 degrees Celsius during the afternoon, the administration has advised citizens to avoid going out in the sun. Weather Updates
Rain accompanied by thunder and wind speed of 30 to 40 kmph is expected in Beed, Latur and Dharashiv districts of Marathwada. Apart from this, warning of unseasonal rain has also been issued in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded and Hingoli districts.
West Maharashtra’s Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur districts will experience 40 degrees Celsius. Heat wave continues in Vidarbha region, temperature is likely to go beyond 44 degrees Celsius in many parts. But Akola, Amravati and Buldhana districts may experience sudden change in weather and rain with gale force winds.
Notably, cloudy weather and scattered showers cannot be ruled out in some parts of West Maharashtra including Solapur after noon. Therefore, farmers and citizens should take necessary precautions keeping in mind the sudden change in weather. Weather Updates
Overall, though the scorching heat continues in the state, the threat of thunder, lightning, gusty winds and unseasonal rains remains in many parts. Therefore, it will be important to be alert while going out and keep an eye on the instructions of the Meteorological Department.
