Weather Updates: The people of Delhi-NCR, who were struggling with the scorching heat and humidity, got sudden relief on Thursday, when the weather took a turn in the afternoon. While the day had started with bright sunshine and sticky heat, within a few hours dark clouds covered the sky and it started raining with strong thunderstorms. This change gave relief to people from the heat, but the sudden strong winds at many places also created a stir.
Heavy rain and hailstorm in the capital
Heavy rain was recorded in many areas of the capital New Delhi. Light hailstorm has also been reported at some places, due to which the weather has become even colder. India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already predicted this change and expressed the possibility of rain with thunderstorms.
Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius, while areas like Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar also had temperatures slightly below normal. While people got relief from this sudden change, problems of waterlogging and traffic were also seen in some areas.
hailstorm in ghaziabad
The effect of weather was even more visible in Ghaziabad. At around 3 pm suddenly it started raining with strong winds and hail started falling in many areas. This weather was no less than a relief for the people troubled by the scorching heat for the last several days. However, people who came out had to face some trouble due to hailstorm.
Alert issued for next few hours
IMD has issued an alert of rain and thunder in Delhi and surrounding areas for the next three hours. Especially in the areas of North and North-East Delhi like Narela, Bawana, Alipur and Burari, there is a possibility of light rain and lightning. Along with this, drizzle is also expected around Loni and Hindon Air Force stations of NCR.
Impact in surrounding states also
Apart from Delhi-NCR, the same weather pattern can be seen in some parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh also. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Rajound, Panipat and Ganaur of Haryana, while there may be rain with thunder in Kandhla and Baraut of Uttar Pradesh.
Drop in temperature, feeling of relief
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of the day is likely to be around 36 degrees Celsius, which is lower than the previous days. People have definitely got relief from this change, but in view of the uncertainty of the weather, they have been advised to remain cautious.
While on one hand this sudden change in weather in Delhi-NCR has brought relief from the heat, on the other hand it reminds us that vigilance is also necessary amid the changing weather. The impact of rain and strong winds may continue in the coming hours, so people need to be careful.
