3. Jammu and Kashmir: Strict rules regarding Amarnath Yatra and Muharram procession

Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive route chart and cut-off timings for the peaceful and safe conduct of Amarnath Yatra (Amarnath Yatra 2026) and 25th Muharram:

  • National Highway-44 (NH-44) Advisory: Due to frequent landslides between Ramban and Banihal and single-lane road condition at many places, special cut-off timing for light vehicles (LMVs) has been implemented on NH-44. Under this, vehicles going from Jammu to Srinagar will be allowed only from 07:00 am to 12:00 noon, whereas for vehicles coming from Srinagar to Jammu, the time has been fixed from 11:30 am to 05:30 pm. To avoid inconvenience, common travelers have been strictly advised to use the alternative route of ‘Mughal Road’ or the old route of Jawahar Tunnel.

  • Muharram Procession (Meergund Pattan): Today i.e. on 11th July, due to Muharram procession in Meergund Pattan, Srinagar-Baramulla Highway will be completely affected from 10:00 am to 08:00 pm.

  • Diversion for Srinagar bound vehicles: All small and big vehicles coming from Baramulla and Kupwara towards Srinagar are being diverted via internal rural roads of Hamre -> Pattan -> Hanjivira -> KP Payen -> Jhelum Bridge -> Mazhama -> Narbal.
