Indian Medals in Commonwealth Games 2026: Indian woman weightlifter Bindiarani Devi has won the bronze medal in the 58 kg weight category. Bindiarani lifted 87 kg in snatch and 112 kg in clean and jerk. In this way, he won the bronze medal by lifting a total weight of 199 kg. Rafiatu Folashade Lawal of Nigeria won the gold medal by lifting a total weight of 229 kg. While Canada’s Anne Sophie Taschereau won the silver medal with a total of 215 kg (94+121).

Bindiarani Devi lifted 87 kg weight in snatch. Bindiarani lifted 83 kg in her first snatch attempt. Although he had earlier registered a weight of 85 kg, but in the last minutes he decided to reduce the weight. Bindiarani increased the weight in the second snatch attempt and successfully lifted 85 kg. Then in the third attempt he lifted 87 kg.

Bindiarani Devi lifted 112 kg weight in clean and jerk

After this, Bindiyarani Devi’s first attempt in the clean and jerk round was declared ‘no lift’. Bindiarani registered a weight of 110 kg in the first attempt and even lifted it. Initially it was considered a successful attempt, but after review by the jury it was declared ‘no lift’. However, Bindiarani made a brilliant comeback in the second attempt. He lifted a total weight of 112 kg in the second attempt and kept himself in the race for the medal. In this way Bindiyarani lifted 87 kg weight in snatch and 112 kg weight in clean and jerk. With this he lifted a total weight of 199 kg and won the bronze medal.

This is India’s sixth medal in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, out of which 5 medals have come only from weightlifting. India has so far won one gold, three silver and 2 bronze medals. Mirabai Chanu gave the gold medal to India on 26th July. Successfully lifted the weight of 105 kg and gave India its first gold medal. On the same day, male weightlifter Rishikanta Singh won the silver medal. Raja and Dnyaneshwari Yadav also won the silver medal. Before that, para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar had won the bronze medal. Now Bindiyarani Devi won the bronze medal. India can win more medals in this event. Even today India can win gold medal in some events.
