Welcome to the Jungle dominated on the first day, Akshay Kumar’s new film won the opening, still the pace of Cocktail 2 and I will come back has not stopped.
New Delhi. An interesting competition is being seen between three films at the box office this week. Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer film Welcome to the Jungle has registered its strong presence by earning handsomely on the very first day of its release. The strong opening of the film has left behind the opening records of Akshay Kumar’s recently released films. However, despite the new releases, there has been no major impact on the earnings of films like Cocktail 2 and Main Vyapar Aaunga and both the films are maintaining their strong hold.
According to trade reports, Welcome to the Jungle collected Rs 3.75 crore from pre-release paid previews. After this, the film recorded a net earning of around Rs 15 crore on the first day. In this way the total opening of the film reached Rs 18.75 crore. The gross collection of the film in India was Rs 22.50 crore, while its worldwide gross collection on the first day was recorded at around Rs 29 crore.
This opening is considered better than Akshay Kumar’s previous films Bhoot Bangla and Jolly LLB 3. The film received a good response from the audience throughout the day and the evening show also saw a steady increase in occupancy. Now the real test of the film will be on weekdays where it will be decided how long the enthusiasm of the audience lasts.
In this new film of Welcome franchise, many big actors like Sunil Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandes, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani and Jackie Shroff are seen along with Akshay Kumar. Due to its big star cast and comedy entertainment, the film has received a large number of screens and prime time shows across the country.
On the other hand, Cocktail 2 starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna is also performing strongly. After earning well in the first week, the film collected a net collection of around Rs 4.25 crore on the second Friday also. With this, the total net earning of the film at the domestic box office reached Rs 74.75 crore while its worldwide gross collection was recorded at Rs 114.67 crore. The film continues to receive good response from multiplex audiences and continues to be popular among audiences who love romantic dramas.
Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali’s film Main Vyapar Aaunga is also performing brilliantly. The film’s earnings have remained stable even after entering its third week. The film collected approximately Rs 2.85 crore on the fifteenth day of its release. The gross collection of the film in India has reached Rs 44.85 crore, while its worldwide earning has been recorded at Rs 58.65 crore. The special thing is that despite the new release, there was no major impact on the film and on the basis of positive word of mouth, it has been successful in continuously attracting the audience to the theatres.
At present, Welcome to the Jungle has made a great start at the box office, but the strong hold of Cocktail 2 and I will return has made it clear that the audience currently has many options of films of different genres. The coming weekend will prove to be very important for all three films.
