In Bengal, police removed the ghost of ‘Pushpa’ from the head of TMC candidate Jahangir Khan, organized a parade in half pants.

West Bengal News: A very shocking picture has emerged from Phalta assembly constituency of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Former Trinamool Congress candidate Jahangir Khan was made to walk in the entire Phalta area by the police, wearing half pants. This powerful leader, who was absconding for the last several days, was arrested by the Special Task Force near the Nepal border. This kind of parade of a leader who once established his influence in the area has now become a topic of discussion in the entire state.

Challenged himself to Pushpa and the police

Jahangir Khan was known for his dominance in the Falta area. During the elections, when police observer Ajay Pal Sharma had gone to his house and warned the family not to try to intimidate the voters, Jahangir Khan had openly challenged the police. He had said that if the police officer is Singham, then he himself is Pushpa. After this challenge given in a filmy style, the police started searching for him. About 7 FIRs are registered against Jahangir in Falta Police Station.

Allegations of tampering with EVM and intimidating voters

Jahangir Khan has been accused of spreading disturbances on a large scale during the elections. The main charge against him is of tampering with the EVM machine in South 24 Parganas constituency by covering the election symbol of Bharatiya Janata Party with tape. Apart from this, complaints were also received about intimidation of voters and removal of names of opposition candidates at many booths in Phalta. Many CCTV footages of the area were also found missing, raising questions on the entire election process.

Major action of Election Commission

In view of all these serious complaints and irregularities, the Central Election Commission had taken a huge step. While the results of 293 seats of West Bengal were declared on May 4 itself, voting in Phalta Assembly constituency was completely canceled. The Election Commission considered this a serious electoral crime and a matter that harms the democratic process. After this, on the orders of the Election Commission, a decision was taken to hold re-polling in Phalta just two days before the results of the assembly elections.

The arrest was made from Nepal border

Let us tell you that Jahangir Khan had got interim relief from the Calcutta High Court on May 18 so that he could participate in the re-polling to be held on May 21. The results of this by-election were declared on 24 May. Jahangir had withdrawn his name from this repoll. After this, when the Calcutta High Court clearly refused to extend his grace period and withdrew the interim protection from arrest, Jahangir Khan absconded. Bengal STF was continuously chasing him and finally he was caught near Nepal border. After his arrest, the police brought him a fruit and paraded him in half pants.

How did Jahangir get arrested?

According to media reports, Jahangir Khan was planning to settle in Nepal with his wife and son and educate his son there. However, according to the police, he had gone to Nepal alone. Was hiding in a rented house in Kathmandu. While returning to India, STF arrested him at Panitanki border.

Jahangir had gone underground

Jahangir Khan went underground after absconding to escape from the police. He switched off his mobile, changed the SIM and also deleted WhatsApp so that his location could not be traced. Despite this he remained in touch with his close people and family. The police tracked his activities by monitoring those contacts and eventually arrested him.
