The political atmosphere is continuously heating up in West Bengal, where Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party have come face to face. Recently, political tension has increased further after IPS officer Ajaypal Sharma warned a TMC leader against alleged threats and intimidation during the elections.

Kolkata: Political tension has once again intensified in West Bengal. A heated exchange of words has started between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after alleged objectionable remarks and social media posts about state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This controversy has now become a topic of discussion at the national level also.

Controversy erupted due to social media post

The whole matter started with a social media post, in which harsh and aggressive language was allegedly used by a leader associated with BJP. All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) expressed strong objection to this post and called it a threatening statement against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

TMC said in its statement that this is not just a political criticism but a serious threatening message. The party alleged that derogatory language and provocative comments are being made continuously by BJP leaders, which is worsening the political atmosphere. According to TMC, the statement that went viral on social media can be interpreted to mean that an attempt is being made to intimidate or suppress opposition leaders. The party called it against democracy and said that such language is unacceptable.

TMC also directly targeted the central government and the top leadership of BJP in its post. Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the party alleged that no strict action is taken on such statements, due to which the atmosphere is becoming more tense. TMC said that this “political culture” is being seen in different parts of the country, which is now being tried to be brought to Bengal as well.

Increasing conflict in Bengal politics

West Bengal is already considered a politically sensitive state, where the competition in every election is extremely tough. The conflict between TMC and BJP has increased continuously in recent years. Both the parties are often at loggerheads over administrative issues, law and order and election strategy in the state. This new controversy has once again heated up the political atmosphere.
