Suvendu Adhikari First Cabinet Meeting: A new era has begun in the politics of West Bengal. After the formation of the BJP government, the first cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari. In this meeting, many historic decisions have been taken regarding the development and administrative reforms of the state. The Chief Minister made it clear that the aim of his government is to connect Bengal with the mainstream of development and to take all the public welfare schemes of the Center to the last person of the state. In this first formal meeting of the cabinet, a total of six important proposals were approved, which will decide the direction and condition of the state in the future.

Gratitude to the Election Commission and tribute to the martyrs

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chief Minister and his cabinet expressed gratitude to the Election Commission of India and the voters of the state for conducting peaceful and fair elections in West Bengal. Shubhendu Adhikari said that the functioning of the Election Commission has been commendable, due to which the democratic process could be successfully completed in the state. Along with this, the Cabinet paid emotional tribute to the 321 BJP workers who sacrificed their lives during the political struggle. The Chief Minister promised that justice will be provided to the families of these martyrs at all costs and their sacrifice will not go in vain.

Benefits of Ayushman Bharat and central schemes

The biggest good news for the people of Bengal has come regarding health services. It has now been decided to officially implement the Centre’s ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme, which was stalled during the previous government, in the entire state. Shubhendu Adhikari clarified that now the people of Bengal will get the facility of free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. The Chief Minister stressed that now every scheme of the Prime Minister will be implemented in Bengal which was stopped by the previous government due to political reasons. This will directly benefit the poor and middle class of the state.

National security and allotment of land to BSF

Being a border state, the Cabinet has kept national security as its priority. To strengthen the fencing and security system on the international border, the government has started the process of giving land to BSF. The Chief Minister said that it was very important to take this step to prevent demographic changes and infiltration in the border areas. Instructions have been given to the administration that the work of allotment of land to BSF should be completed within the next 45 days. This decision will provide great help to the Border Security Force in monitoring the borders of the country.

Administrative Reforms and Recruitment Process

To bring transparency in government work, the Cabinet has approved central training and deployment of bureaucrats. This process was stalled for a long time, which has now been restored. Apart from this, the Indian Judicial Code i.e. BNS, which has not yet been implemented in the state, has been implemented with immediate effect. Now all new cases registered in the state will be registered under this new law. A big announcement has also been made for the youth. The government admitted that no major recruitment has taken place in the state since 2015, hence now a roadmap is being prepared to start the new recruitment process soon.

1100 helpline for public complaints

To listen to the everyday problems of the general public and find their quick solution, Shubhendu government has started ‘Sahayog Helpline 1100’ and ‘Sahayog Portal’. Under this new system, any citizen of the state will be able to lodge his complaint related to electricity, water, road, ration or land dispute sitting at home. The government has claimed that every problem registered will be resolved within 30 days. This helpline number will be operational from 8 am to 8 pm. Those who cannot use online technology will be able to reach out to the officials by calling directly. The Chief Minister said that now people will not have to visit offices for small tasks.
