Today (14 April) the country is celebrating the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Like every year, this time too government and political programs are being organized with him across the country. In many cities including the capital Delhi, people garlanded the statues of Ambedkar and remembered his thoughts. BSP supremo Mayawati will address a big rally in Lucknow.
On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, big programs are being organized in both Delhi and Noida on Tuesday. This program is to be held at Dalit Prerna Sthal. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy traffic jam in both the cities till evening. Delhi Traffic Police and Gautam Buddha Nagar Traffic Police have issued advisories and appealed to the people to adopt alternative routes.

Lifelong struggle for social equality
Leaders and social workers described his contribution as invaluable to the country, saying that he played an important role in the making of the Constitution of India and fought throughout his life for social equality. Many leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid tribute to Ambedkar through social media and called for adopting his ideals. At the same time, opposition leaders also described his views as relevant in today’s times.

Ambedkar, the creator of the Indian Constitution, was a great economist, jurist, and social reformer. As the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly, he got the Constitution of the country prepared. Through the Constitution, he gave every citizen of the country the right to equality, freedom and justice.
Dr. Ambedkar had launched a huge movement across the country against the caste system and untouchability in the country. He organized the Mahad Satyagraha movement to give the untouchables the right to drink water from public ponds. He founded Bahishkrit Hitkarini Sabha for the education and upliftment of Dalits.
