What did the head coach of RCB do, IPL imposed a heavy penalty
Desk. RCB defeated Mumbai Indians in a thrilling match on Sunday night. With this match, while this IPL season has ended for Mumbai, RCB has taken another step forward for the playoffs. Meanwhile, such an incident also happened, for which the IPL has imposed a heavy fine on the head coach of the team.
RCB i.e. Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Andy Flower has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaking Level 1 of the IPL 2026 Code of Conduct. This entire incident happened on the night of 10 May during the Mumbai Indians vs RCB match. The match was played in Raipur, which lasted till the last ball and then RCB managed to register victory. On this entire matter, IPL has said that Flower has broken Article 2.3 of the Code of Conduct, which is related to the use of abusive language during the match. The incident happened in the 17.2nd over of RCB’s run-chase when Andy Flower had a heated argument with the fourth umpire.
Actually, this entire incident happened after a controversial boundary call involving Krunal Pandya. Facing Mumbai Indians bowler Allah Ghazanfar, Krunal played the ball to wide long-on. Naman Dheer present there caught it near the ropes. Tilak Verma was also present there, this was possible due to the joint efforts of both the players. Meanwhile, Tilak did not complete the catch and it seemed as if he was signaling for a six. Perhaps Naman accidentally made contact with the boundary cushion by hitting one shoe with the other. But replays showed that Naman Dheer had not touched the cushion during the attempt. During this, Krunal did not try to score runs because he was feeling some cramps during that time. That means it became a dot ball.
Meanwhile, there is news that a video of Andy Flower has also surfaced on this. In which he is talking to the umpire in a very angry tone. It has now been learned that Flower admitted his mistake of speaking angrily to the fourth umpire and accepted the punishment imposed by match referee Amit Sharma. Under IPL rules, punishment for Level 1 violations is final and binding.
