MI vs CSK: What Happened Last Time MI Hosted CSK At Wankhede?

The blockbuster rivalry of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings (MI vs CSK), will resume tonight as MI host CSK at the Wankhede.

MS Dhoni returns to the venue where he hit the most famous six in Indian cricket’s history back in 2011. However, it’s not certain yet whether the former CSK captain will take the field today, having not played any game so far this season due to a calf injury.

Rohit Sharma, the former MI skipper, has missed Mumbai’s last two matches owing to a hamstring injury. He is, though, likely to play today, replacing Danish Malewar.

Meanwhile, coming to the MI vs CSK matches, both teams have had several memorable contests, including four IPL finals, of which the teams in blue and gold won three and the yellow army bagged one.

Overall, Mumbai have historically held an edge over Chennai. In the 41 MI vs CSK matches, MI won 22 and CSK won 19.

In recent years, though, CSK have dominated MI. Since IPL 2023, CSK have beaten MI in 4 matches and lost only once.

However, to note is that this victory of MI came in the two teams’ last encounter. And that game was in MI’s den, Wankhede. More on it below.
