What is the law of concussion?
Cricket is a game surrounded by rules and new rules keep getting added with time. The concussion rule came into effect in 2019, according to which, if a player suffers a serious injury to the head or neck during a match, he can be taken out of the field and a ‘like-for-like’ player can come as a substitute. Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has given clarification in the press conference on the ongoing controversy over the concussion substitute issue. He said that while taking the catch, Santner was injured in both his neck and shoulder. When the management asked for a concussion substitute, the match referee allowed Shardul to take his place.
