What is the price of Hilsa? Fishing will continue till Ras Purnima

Kolkata and South Bengal: Is the taste of Hilsa almost gone in Bengali leaves this season? The supply of Hilsa in the current year is not as expected, hence questions are being raised on the fish market. But the fishermen are still not accepting defeat. They are planning to go sea fishing once again before Raas Purnima. It remains to be seen how much Hilsa gets trapped in the net in the last trip. However, representatives of fishermen’s organizations believe that there is little possibility of price reduction at the moment due to low supply of fish.

Efforts to catch Hilsa will continue till Raas Purnima

The supply of Hilsa generally increases during the monsoon season. But fishermen say that this hope has not been fulfilled this year. Although some large hilsa were caught in nets, there were not many cases of large numbers of fish being caught at once. As a result, they are in crisis as profits fall short of fishing costs. In such a situation, instead of banning fishing after Durga Puja, it has been decided to continue fishing till Raas Purnima. Fishermen are waiting to see whether the supply of fish increases in the last round.

Will the supply of Hilsa increase? fishermen watching the rain

Representatives of fishermen’s organizations believe that there is a connection between the supply of Hilsa and rains. According to the organization’s representative Rabin Das, if it rains then the chances of Hilsa occurring increases. But in the current season, fishermen are facing huge losses in fishing. If the weather changes, they hope that some more Hilsa may be caught in the net in the last round. However, if the conditions are not favourable, Hilsa fishing may be stopped after Raas Purnima like this year.
