WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android users, through which chats can be further customized using themes and wallpapers. Through this update, users will be able to change the colors of Chat Background, Theme and Message Bubble as per their choice.
This feature is currently said to be available to limited Beta users. However, WhatsApp has not announced the official date of its Global Stable Rollout.
Different theme categories may be available in WhatsApp
According to reports, the new Chat Theme Experience is being tested in WhatsApp Android Beta Version 2.26.37.6. There can be many categories available to select different designs and backgrounds. Possible categories include Featured, Nature, Live, Minimal and Doodle.
Special designs selected from different categories can be shown in the Featured Section. Wallpapers based on natural landscapes like forests, mountains, sea and desert can be available in the Nature category. Simple and clean designs can be found in the Minimal Section, while Backgrounds with WhatsApp's famous Doodle Pattern can be included in the Doodle Category.
Slight movement may be visible in Live Wallpapers
Live Category may also be included in this possible update. Such animated wallpapers can be available in it in which slow and light movement will be visible in the background. This may cause the chat screen to look different than normal static images.
It has also been said in the reports that to make identification of Live Wallpapers easier, a separate badge can be given on their thumbnails. However, the availability of Live Backgrounds, designs and final features may change at the time of the company's official rollout.
Option to create your own wallpaper from gallery images
Under the new feature, WhatsApp users can also get the option to select a picture from their phone's gallery and use it as a chat background. Through this, users will be able to use any memorable photo, travel photo or any other visual of their choice as Chat Background.
The reports also mention the option of creating custom wallpapers with the help of AI. If this option is included in the final version then users will be able to create new designs as per their choice and requirement. However, the availability of the AI Wallpaper feature and how it works has not been officially confirmed yet.
Facility to change Theme and Wallpaper separately
In this update of WhatsApp, users can get the option to customize Theme and Wallpaper separately. This means that if a user likes the current chat theme but wants to change only the background, then he will not need to change the entire theme.
With different customization options available, the appearance of personal and group chats can also be changed easily.
The color of the message bubble may change according to the theme.
The color of the message bubble can also be adjusted according to the background and theme selected in the new Chat Theme System. WhatsApp can choose a color that makes messages in chat easier to read.
With this, users can also get the option to manually change the color of the message bubble. However, the final options of Automatic Color Adjustment and Manual Customization will become clear only after the official update.
Feature currently available to limited Android Beta users
The new WhatsApp Themes and Wallpapers feature is currently being tested with a limited number of Android beta users. Therefore, it is not necessary that every beta user sees this feature immediately.
WhatsApp has not yet officially announced the Global Stable Rollout of this update. Therefore, there is currently no final information available regarding when this feature will be available to general users. According to reports, if the test is successful then the company can extend this feature to more users in the future.
