Vat Purnima Vrat 2026: Date, auspicious time, worship method, importance
In Hindu religion, the fast of Vat Purnima is considered very important for married women. This festival is celebrated on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. This year, the fast of Vat Purnima will be observed on 29 June 2026, Monday.

While Vat Savitri fast on Jyeshtha Amavasya is more prevalent in North India, Vat Purnima is considered to have special significance in Maharashtra, Gujarat and South India.

According to the Hindu calendar, Jyeshtha Shukla Purnima Tithi will start at 3:06 am on June 29 and end at 5:26 am on June 30. Based on Udaya Tithi, the fast of Vat Purnima will be observed on 29th June. On this day, wear clean clothes after morning bath. Offer water, milk, roli, akshat, flowers, incense, lamp and naivedya under the banyan tree. After this, circumambulate around the tree with Kalava and listen to the story of Savitri-Satyavan. Finally, pray for the happiness, prosperity of the family and long life of the husband.
Auspicious yoga is being formed on Vat Purnima
This year, on the day of Vat Purnima, there is a coincidence of two auspicious yogas. The first auspicious yoga will start from morning till 2:36 pm. After this Brahma Yoga will start. According to astrology, by worshiping God and worshiping the banyan tree in these auspicious yogas, the virtue of fasting increases manifold.

According to religious beliefs, fasting on Vat Purnima is considered a symbol of the unwavering loyalty, dedication and devotion of Mother Savitri.
