When Kapil Dev bought a ‘stolen jacket’, he ran to the hotel fearing the police.

New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev shared a funny and interesting anecdote from his life during a book launch event held in Delhi. This incident is from the time when he went to London with his friend and former naval officer Harvinder Singh Sikka.

Kapil Dev told that a person met him on the street of London and asked for help of 50 pounds. In return he offered to give two leather jackets he had. Kapil suspected from the beginning that the jackets could be stolen. He said that he was continuously gesturing to Harvinder Singh Sikka, but Sikka wanted to help the man. Ultimately both of them bought the jacket by paying 50 pounds.

  • Kapil Dev laughingly told that after purchasing the jacket, Sikka was very happy and was repeatedly saying that “the jacket is really made of genuine leather.” But Kapil, on the other hand, was constantly scared. They were feeling that the police might catch them. He jokingly said that all the way he kept saying, “Reach to the hotel quickly.” Both of them reached the hotel fearfully because they were afraid of arrest. Kapil Dev narrated this incident during the release program of Harvinder Singh Sikka’s new spy thriller book ‘The Chaabi Master’ in New Delhi. Many people including Supreme Court judge Justice Manmohan, former cricketer Kapil Dev, film director Boney Kapoor, writers Shiv Kheda and Jai Madan were present in the program.

During this, Kapil Dev expressed concern over the reeling of children. Addressing the program, he said that many good books are coming, but today’s young generation has forgotten to read. The youth is in the trap of reeling. Parents should inspire them for books.
