President Draupadi Murmu honored various eminent personalities of the country with the highest civilian awards in a grand civil investiture ceremony held at the historic Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Celebrities who have made unique contributions in the fields of art, cinema, journalism and justice received this honor from the President.
Mammootty and Alka Yagnik received ‘Padma Bhushan’
The President awarded Padma Bhushan to two big names who ruled the world of cinema and music for decades. Malayalam cinema veteran and senior actor Mammootty was given this honor for his unmatched contribution in the field of art. At the same time, the country’s famous playback singer Alka Yagnik, who won crores of hearts with her magical voice, was also decorated with Padma Bhushan by President Draupadi Murmu.
P Narayanan and former Justice KT Thomas honored with ‘Padma Vibhushan’
Two prominent personalities were honored in the category of ‘Padma Vibhushan’, the country’s second highest civilian honour. Senior Malayalam journalist P Narayanan was awarded the Padma Vibhushan by the President for his outstanding and valuable contribution in the field of journalism and literature.
Former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas, who gave a new direction to the country’s judicial system, was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his exemplary services in law and public affairs. The Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and many other dignitaries and VVIPs were present in this dignified ceremony. All the awardees were honored for their exceptional work in the development of the country and society.
