The wait for the 8th Pay Commission has become a big topic of discussion for lakhs of government employees and pensioners of Uttar Pradesh. However, till now no official announcement, date or deadline has been fixed by the Yogi government regarding the 8th Pay Commission. What does the past record say?
The history of implementation of Pay Commission in Uttar Pradesh has always been linked to the decisions of the Central Government. If we talk about the 7th Pay Commission, after the decision of the Centre, it was approved by the State Cabinet on 13 December 2016 and it was made effective from 1 January 2017. At the same time, during the 6th Pay Commission, the government had implemented recommendations in August 2008, in which there was a provision to pay arrears from January 1, 2006.
If we look at the fitment factor, it was 1.86 in the 6th Pay Commission, which was increased to 2.57 in the 7th Pay Commission. It is clear from these figures that the UP government has always followed the path of the Center and implemented the new pay scale in the state.
How will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?
On the basis of experts and past experiences, it is believed that the Yogi government will adopt the same old process regarding the 8th Pay Commission. First of all the Central Government will approve its recommendations and implement them. After this, the Uttar Pradesh government will assess the financial impact at its level and after the approval of the state cabinet, start the administrative process to implement it.
It is important to clarify now that whatever speculations are being made are based only on old records and process. Until any official order or notification is issued by the state government, it will be premature to make any definite claims on the date of salary hike or other aspects.
