Who is Saransh Jain? Got entry into Team India on the basis of domestic cricket, will fill the gap of Washington Sundar on Sri Lanka tour

Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member Indian team for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. In this team captained by Shubman Gill, one name which is much talked about is Saransh Jain, who has been included in the Indian Test team for the first time. The selectors have given him a chance to join the team at a time when Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test.

Who is Saransh Jain?

Resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh Saransh Jain is an experienced all-rounder who has consistently performed brilliantly in domestic cricket. He is a right-arm off-spin bowler and also bats usefully in the lower order. His performance in red ball cricket has been consistently impressive, on the basis of which he has been given a place in the national team.

Excellent record in first class cricket

Saransh Jain has so far taken 188 wickets in 97 innings of 54 matches in first class cricket. Even in batting, he has scored 2,223 runs in 85 innings at an average of 31.

He also has 2 centuries and 14 half-centuries to his name in first class cricket, which makes him a reliable all-rounder.

Made identity through domestic cricket, not IPL

Saransh Jain is one of those players who has made his mark not on the basis of IPL but on the basis of his consistent performance in domestic cricket. After working hard at the domestic level for a long time, at the age of 33, he got a place in the Indian Test team for the first time.

Got a chance in the absence of Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar was not available in the team selected for the Sri Lanka tour. In such a situation, the selectors have included Saransh Jain as an off-spin option.

Considering the spin-friendly conditions of Sri Lanka, the Indian team has expressed confidence in four spinners. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar and Saransh Jain have got place in the team. As an off-spinner, Saransh will provide balance to the team’s spin attack.
