What is the whole matter?

According to information received quoting sources, the detained woman has been identified as 'Venkata Narsamamba Vasamsetty'. Venkata has been living in America for the last 27 years with her identity and valid green card. She teaches children with special needs at a school in North Carolina.

Reason for detention revealed

The US Department of Homeland Security has taken this action citing rules. Apart from this, officials allege that Venkata had spent about seven months in India in the year 2022. According to US immigration rules, if a green card holder spends more than 6 consecutive months outside the country without prior permission, it can be considered as 'Intention to leave permanent residence'. On this basis he has been detained.

Family and lawyers argued

After this action, Venkata's family and lawyers have expressed strong protest. Her daughter, herself an immigration lawyer in the US, said that her mother had gone to India in 2022 to take care of her extremely ill parents during the Corona pandemic. The family also presented documentary evidence in the court to prove that Venkata had no intention of leaving America. These documents also include his own house there.

Action taken even after getting relief from court

The most shocking aspect of this case is that in May 2026 this year, an American immigration judge had rejected the government's case to deport him. Despite this, on August 11, 2026, when she went for a routine immigration check-in, she was suddenly detained.
