Why is Kyle Jamieson not playing in the DC vs CSK match?

Delhi Capitals have dropped Kyle Jamieson for their IPL 2026 match against the Chennai Super Kings on May 5. Jamieson, who did well in the limited opportunities, was benched to include Lungi Ngidi in the Playing XI at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Proteas pacer was injured in the contest against the Punjab Kings and was ruled out for a couple of games.

Jamieson was given a chance in his place, but when the in-form player recovered from his injury, the team management decided to give more game time, considering his performance in the previous games of the 19th season of the tournament. In 7 games so far, he has taken 7 wickets so far at an average of 29.42 and an economy of 8.70. For the record, Lungi didn’t bowl in the fixture against the PBKS at home.

On the other hand, Jamieson dismissed two batters in two matches, and his aggressive send-off to Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the RR vs DC clash led to a sanction from the IPL.

The return of Lungi will help the Capitals to dominate the rivals in the middle overs, as his slow variation has caused a lot of trouble to the opposite numbers. Delhi need to win their remaining matches to make it to the playoffs, but a defeat even in one contest could eliminate them from the race.

Meanwhile, DC captain Axar has won the toss and elected to bat first against CSK.
