New Car PDI: Why is pre-delivery inspection necessary before buying a new car? Know complete details
New Car PDI: In India, a large number of people buy new cars every month, but often people focus only on payment and completing the paperwork. In fact, it is very important to do Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) before bringing the car home. This is a step that ensures the quality and condition of your new vehicle. If you are careless in this, you may have to face many problems and expenses later.
What is PDI?
PDI i.e. Pre-Delivery Inspection is an important checkup done before the delivery of the car. In this, the car is completely checked from inside and out, to ensure that the car is brand new and without any defects.
Why is it important to check the exterior?
During PDI, first of all the exterior of the car should be seen carefully. Park the car in the sun and examine the paint so that any scratches, dents or signs of repainting are clearly visible. Apart from this, check the gaps of doors, bonnet and trunk whether they are equal everywhere or not. Also check the condition of headlights, tail lamps, mirrors and tyres.
Don’t ignore the interior
Checking the interior of the car is equally important. Check the seat covers, dashboard and door panels carefully for stains, cuts or tears. The interior of a new car should be completely clean and in perfect condition.
Check Features and Electronics
Nowadays cars come with many advanced features, so during PDI turn on and check all the electronic systems. This includes touchscreen, audio system, power windows, central locking and AC. Also, check to see if any warning light is on in the instrument cluster.
What to do if you encounter a problem?
If any defect is noticed during PDI, immediately inform the showroom. If the problem is serious, it is a better option to ask for a new vehicle instead of taking the same vehicle.
