‘Why should I be jealous of Vijay?’… Rajinikanth got angry at the questions raised on the news of becoming CM, said – ‘My level has not fallen that much’
Tezzbuzz Desk – South superstar Rajinikanth has finally broken his silence on all the ongoing discussions regarding Tamil Nadu politics. In a press conference held at his home in Chennai on Sunday, Rajinikanth spoke openly on the rumors and political speculations spread on social media after the election results. He clearly said that his statements and meetings were being misrepresented and if he had remained silent, people would have accepted the rumors as truth.
Actually, Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has registered a spectacular victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. After this, many types of claims started being made on social media. Some people said that Rajinikanth was not happy with this result, while some alleged that he was trying to change the political equation and merge the parties.
In the press conference, Rajinikanth rejected all these things and said that he has no problem with Vijay’s victory. He said that he was surprised to hear the news of becoming the Chief Minister, but equally happy. He said, “I am not in politics, then why would I be jealous of Vijay? My level has not fallen so low that I would be upset with someone’s success.”
Rajinikanth also clarified that his meeting with MK Stalin after the election results was misrepresented. He said that his and Stalin’s friendship was far above politics. Stalin’s defeat from Kulathur seat had hurt him personally and that is why he had gone to meet him.
He said, “If I had not responded to these rumours, people would have accepted them as truth. Our friendship is beyond politics and I had gone to meet him only as a friend.”
Rajinikanth also praised Vijay a lot. He said that the achievement that Vijay has achieved at the age of 52 is a very big thing. He said that Vijay won by competing against big parties in the state and forces like the ruling BJP at the Centre, which is historic in itself.
Smiling, he said jokingly, “If Kamal Haasan had become the Chief Minister, I might have been jealous.” He also said that there is a generation gap of about 25 years between Vijay and him, so it would not be right to compare the two.
Rajinikanth also clarified that he has never attended the swearing-in ceremony of any Chief Minister, hence not attending Vijay’s program was nothing new. He said that people are unnecessarily linking everything with politics.
During this, he also expressed his displeasure over the incident of Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan being leaked online. Rajinikanth said that the film industry should take strict action against such crimes and the government should take strict action against the culprits so that such incidents do not happen again in future.
