According to the Cabinet note, the Commission will conduct a detailed and fresh feasibility study to ascertain the nature, extent and impact of backwardness in Other Backward Class communities across the state. Based on the results, the panel will recommend the proportion and method of reservation for backward classes in rural local bodies.

2. Check the reservation structure

The commission will examine the rules related to reservation under the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947 and the Uttar Pradesh Area Panchayat and District Panchayat Act, 1961. It will also review the operational framework under these.
